Mary Fisher, Founder of Fisher Agency, Completes the Sale of the Marketing Agency and Retires After 35 Years

Jacksonville, FL – Mary Fisher has completed the sale of Fisher Agency to Erin Gordon, a digital, traditional, and creative marketing professional and entrepreneur. Fisher Agency is known and well-respected throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia for branding, website and branding solutions, and public relations. The agency has grown exponentially to national prominence for traditional and digital marketing and social media expertise, especially for franchises.

Mary’s career started in 1979 as a graphic designer working with Lee Printing and later as Creative Director of Jacksonville Magazine.

Subsequently, she found her wings as an entrepreneur and started Mary Fisher Design (1989), which became Fisher Design & Advertising and later evolved into the full-service company Fisher Agency. Mary witnessed significant growth in the following years as one of the first woman-owned website design companies in the U.S. Mary merged (2020) Fisher Agency with Savvy Partner, led by Erin Gordon, who later purchased a controlling interest. This strategic acquisition played a vital role in Mary’s carefully orchestrated transition plan. Mary carefully chose Erin Gordon as her successor, citing her capabilities and business acumen, ensuring the ongoing legacy of the Fisher Agency. On April 1, 2024, Mary officially retires and continues as a consultant, as needed.

Under Mary’s legacy, Fisher Agency’s client-focused and ethical reputation reaches far and wide with impressive clients from dozens of business sectors. Client lists include Mayo Clinic, Baptist Health, Watson Realty Corp., Ace Hardware, Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute, Alivia Care and Community Hospice & Palliative Care, Arizona Chemical, Gate Petroleum, Jacksonville Suns, Brumos, Patriot Rail, and many banks and credit unions, to name a few.

Fisher was honored as one of Jacksonville’s “Most Alluring People” (1990) by Jacksonville Magazine; “Entrepreneur of the Year” (2007) by Women Business Owners (WBO) of North Florida “Entrepreneur of the Year”; and “Woman of Influence” (2015) by Jacksonville Business Journal.

Mary faced and overcame insurmountable odds during her four-decade career. The biggest hurdles were major injuries in a serious car accident resulting in being T-boned by a drunk driver. She suffered 13 broken bones and severe internal injuries, requiring a month in the hospital followed by many more months of rehab. Mary persevered throughout and continued to run the company and moved it forward.

Her legacy is paired with passionate inspiration as a role model for fellow business owners and a mentor to students from FSCJ, UNF, Junior Achievement, Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Business Center’s Athena PowerLink, and Women Business Owners of North Florida. Mary believes in giving back and always gives a hand to people and causes she cares about.

Mary’s new endeavor reflects a heartfelt desire to support our veterans by honoring her father, a WWII Burma Banshee fighter pilot, veteran husband, and brother. She has just finished www.burmabanshees.com and supports the corresponding Burma Banshees Facebook page. Mary is proud to continue supporting military veterans after retirement.

Friends will see Mary on the Queen’s Harbour Golf Course, enjoying a crab leg feast at her favorite restaurants, or just around town as she celebrates more than four decades of “a job well done” as she passes Fisher Agency on to Erin Gordon and the next generation to a create an even more successful business future.

It took a leap of faith to get us here and we want to share our news with you.

This year has brought us together and we are thrilled to announce the growth of the business, services, team members, and our customers’ businesses.

We are so proud of how our teams came together. We couldn’t have asked for a more supportive team! It’s always a challenge to go through a merger, but we were supported by so many great individuals including our broker, accountants, customers, lawyers, and friends who lent us advice.

Thank you for all the support and wishing us all an amazing 2021! — Mary & Erin!

To adapt to the ever changing environment in atrracting new customers to boutique law firms and wealth management companies, Purcell, Flanagan, Hay and Greene wanted to focus on growing their digital presence in 2017 which starts with getting found on the search engines for the most important keywords in their industry.

For this project, we wrote new title tags, meta descriptions, H1 headers and added copy to the homepage and footer sections of the website. We also put a special emphasis on ensuring the firm's website will rank not only in Jacksonville, but also Amelia Island and Ponte Vedra, Florida.

Local Designer and friend, Mary Fisher Design, publicly takes on the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA). In today's Times-Union article brilliantly written by Alison Trinidad, Mary claims that the JEA made little to no effort to publicize a $7,000,000.00 contract (numerical for emphasis) that came up for renewal this June.=

And why should they? Just because it's the Jacksonville Electric Authority doesn't mean they should use a Jacksonville agency. And just because they have absolutely no competition, doesn't mean they should make an effort to at least alert the top 4 agencies so they may compete for the business. After all, what's the fun of working with a podunk local agency for local advertising, when you can work with an Agency that has Worldwide in the title.

With a contract with this many zeros behind it, one would hope that the person in charge would be well-versed in arithmetic. Read below:

"JEA imposed the revenue floor to ensure that the utility represented only 10 to 15 percent of the agency's business, McCarthy said. Fisher argues that the floor was too high, because the contract is worth $1.4 million per year ($7 million over five years), which equates to 2 percent of business at an agency with $70 million in annual capitalized billings"

So you do the math. With property tax cuts causing budget shortfalls all over the city, would you rather see those dollars stay in Jacksonville and flow into the local tax revenue stream or go to Boston?

Could there be something fishy here? (Sorry for the reference Mary). I'd also like to know why JTA uses a PR Firm out of Tampa and our very own Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce uses a New York PR Firm (that one really hurts).
Props to Jan Korb for the heads up.

Learning how Google and other search engines, see your website is the key to a good search engine optimization of your site (SEO).

One way is to view google cache text-version.

However this method won't show the cache unless Google has crawled your page.

The other way is to use the Lynx browser. It is a text-based very ugly looking software, but it will show exactly how spiders will see your site. Check your site with Lynx and discover new way to optimize your site!
