Besides your company name, your logo is one of the most important things people will notice when they see your brand. Your logo design absolutely matters for how your business is perceived. With just a glance, the questions a potential client thinks of: Is it worth checking out? Is it a company or product I can trust? Is it here to stay?

If you’re in the process of a new logo design or are redesigning an existing logo, there are five important factors to keep in mind.

1. Keep It Simple

Keeping a logo simple is essential to its success. In our world of immediate results and quick glances, the most well-designed, legible and clean logos drive the fastest recognition and action.

When a logo design has too many elements, fonts, and colors, it distracts from its purpose of representing your brand and can end up hurting your business. A logo is meant to symbolize your brand, so having one that is impactful, visually appealing, and uses clean design is a must.

2. The Right Personality

The font and color combinations used in your logo design is essential for revealing the proper message to your audience.

Your font choice “speaks” the personality of a brand and legibility must be a major consideration. A playful typeface may work great for a new toy product. But for a law firm, a font that is more traditional and stands boldly may be a better choice.

Colors play a crucial role in determining a brand’s message. Every hue evokes an emotion, which becomes a lasting impression for your customers. Though bright and bold colors may help grab people’s attention, that palette isn’t going to convey a calm feeling for the clients of your new relaxing spa.

A unique logo solution was developed for Jet & Ivy, a new clothing line with apparel for toddlers through tweens. The challenge was to provide an on-trend boutique experience for parents and works for both boys and girls clothing markets.

3. Stand Out From The Competition

An impactful and strong logo design is key to your business success. At the same time, it has to convey your brand’s key qualities successfully. With so many brands operating within the same market and many more entering, having a strong logo is imperative.  The logo must also be better in design than your competitors.

The best way to ensure having a one-of-a-kind logo is to utilize an experienced graphic designer. A customized icon can elevate a new logo and make it absolutely unique to your brand and its marketing.

A medical or technology business needs to appear credible, cutting-edge, and very knowledgeable to encourage potential patients. So, a very sleek and modern look was optimal for the clinical trial startup company, Curequest Clinical.

4. Be Versatile

With so many places where your logo will make an appearance, you want it to look good everywhere. This logo design must work in every one of these mediums, from business cards, advertisements, websites, social media, signs, vehicles, and uniforms. Does the design work for a small corner on a website to the huge expanse of a billboard? Can it be used in one color? Have a version that works against a dark background? Does it look sharp super close and is also clear and legible from far away? A good designer knows how to make a logo work in all of those situations.

AllSpec Pest Control had to be sure their design could work on their company vehicles, embroidered shirts and lawn signs, in addition to the usual print, website, and social media.

5. Hire A Professional Logo Designer

Be judicious when hiring a local freelancer, a graphic designer found online, or a student to develop your logo. Many of these young designers do not know the copyright laws and will use clip art or someone else’s icon to create your logo. You may find you will not be able to trademark the logo they created for you and you paid for. After all, your logo is a valuable part of your corporation’s tangible assets and brings value to the business.

Before a major purchase or procedure, you do your research. You read reviews, look at their work and often meet before you decide to use them. The same should apply to the most pivotal part of your business marketing: your logo.

A professional graphic designer has years of logo design experience and is aware of the current trends, as well as the effects of ideal color choice and font styles for your business. They will ensure that your end results will not only look the way you want but will help you achieve the goals you set out for your marketing materials.

Whether you are part of a startup company or business needing a new look, Mary and her creative team at Fisher Design have designed logos and refreshed the brands of many successful corporations over the last 31 years in Jacksonville, Florida. A New Way to Gather the Troops and Continue to Sell Your Services

If you want to uptick your business, start using ZOOM. Why? It’s “the” number one communication tool used right now to connect people, sell products, and personalize your biggest asset to your customers – YOU!

All of a sudden, it seems everyone is using ZOOM for in a myriad of ways, such as to:

  • Talk to friends and family, especially relatives in nursing homes
  • Set up “shop” or sell your wares or knowledge from the kitchen table, library, garage, or a corner of a room to keep business going now – and later
  • Launch education programs, especially those related to mindfulness, how to lower anxiety and stress levels, nutrition and diet (you’re cooking at home, so the “how-to” cook dishes have exploded), financial consultants, any consultancy – don’t let the pandemic halt your business
  • Conduct corporate, large-to-small business meetings
  • Connect with customers in real-time “face-to-face” without a mask or gloves

The beauty of ZOOM is that it’s participatory. You have a voice and can be part of the conversation. It’s easy to “host”, “invite” and “schedule” – if you’re joining a ZOOM, just click the link sent to your email. The first 45 minutes are free! Run out of time, just log out and go back in or you can pay a fee to continue without interruption.

Perhaps one of the lessons the pandemic has taught us is how to slow down. With ZOOM, you don’t have to run to the car, check the gas, run the red lights, find a parking space, and break a sweat before you enter a client’s office. Now, you can check your appearance, put on a nice shirt and wear shorts, if you want. Online shirt sales have been exploding.

ZOOM is now a business verb. “Let’s ZOOM!” “Meet you on ZOOM in 10 minutes.” “Let’s get our friends and have a cocktail together at 4:30 on ZOOM.”  There have been marriages, funerals, and births on ZOOM. So, if you haven’t ZOOMed, get on it.

Fisher Design can help you learn how – a quick hour of consulting can put your face in front of your market contacts, friends, and family. We have tips on how to place a virtual background behind you – we call it “dressing the stage” and bring a sense of calm from the lower neck up as you put a BOOM in your business.

From media coverage and online programming, we are looking into the living rooms and libraries of journalists and commentators – they have now become one of us, sitting at home no longer in a booth behind glass. Instead, they’re comfortable in their own nest and able to continue with their jobs – you can, too. You can upload graphics, animations, or a power point slide dock to share with your ZOOMers. It’s up to you how to “present” yourself while your phone or camera on your computer, smart phone or tablet is running with ZOOM.

Here are a few tips on making sure you look good on the video: Make sure you have a good light source in front of you, not behind you, and not overhead. This video does a great job of explaining it: https://youtu.be/ACNGhPKnmok.

The one other thing you must remember is: wipe your camera lens on your computer clean! Don’t wipe it with the shirt you are wearing while you are in front of an audience, as someone in our office did. So, get with it – ZOOM with Mary and her team at Fisher Design today!

In this example, our art director, Lindsay Powell is having a Zoom Conference with CEO, Mary Fisher and client Mort Crim about the new book cover that is still being developed. What you see here is not final, the book cover design is still in progress as of 5-1-2020. Watch for Mort’s book to come out in 2021.

We are excited to announce the launch of the new website for The Brumos Collection. It was a great experience getting to work with Dan Davis, previous owner of Brumos Porsche and the Brumos Racing team who started The Brumos Collection as an eclectic, private automotive collection that was stored on-site at the Brumos car dealerships in Jacksonville, Florida. Now it’s moving to it’s new home in a 35,000sf Exhibit Hall that was inspired directly by the Ford assembly plant that once operated in downtown East Jacksonville. The collection grew with many international and national award-winning cars, historical documents, and racing artifacts as Brumos Racing became part of the Collection.

Our goal working with Brandon Starks, Executive Director of The Brumos collection was to create an engaging new website to share these cars and related history and to increase generational awareness of the automotive history. The Brumos Collection invites you to celebrate the internal combustion engine and those who devoted their lives in pursuit of building the best automobiles in the world.

“We are so excited to be able to share this new phase of The Brumos Collection with this amazing, new website and we look forward to sharing so much more in the coming months”.
Brandon Starks, The Brumos Collection, Executive Director

I thought I would share this story. We had a client who had her logo done by Vista Pr***. When I asked for a vector file of the logo, they were not able to give it to her. In fact, the logo did not belong to her at all. She was not authorized to use it any other place than on projects printed by Vista Pr***. Therefore, it is not able to be trademarked, and says so on the website, when you read the small type. So, when she is ready to sell her business, that piece of intellectual property that she thought she owned, will actually hurt the sale of her business. Moral of the story: think twice before you get your logo for a cheap price on one of these sites online. The development of a proper logo is one of the smartest investments for your business. Call a reputable ad agency or grapher designer.

This is directly from the terms and conditions on the Vista Pr*** website:

The logo design tools provided on this Site employ a limited number of elements, including icons, fonts, color schemes, and design effects. Vistaprint reserves the right to use all such elements and to make all such elements available for use by other parties in the future. You do not obtain any right or claim to any of the individual logo design elements through your creation of a logo design and/or your incorporation of a logo design into one or more products. Other Vistaprint customers may use the design tools to create logos that have similar or identical combinations of these elements and Vistaprint does not guarantee that your logo will not have similarities to logos designed and used by other parties. Vistaprint provides no warranty of any kind that logo designs created using the design tools will not infringe, or be subject to a claim of infringing, the trademark or other rights of another party. It is solely your responsibility to obtain the advice of an attorney regarding whether the logo design is legally available for your use and does not infringe the rights of another party.
